I was born in the year of the Cathy. It was preceeded by the year of the Debbie and was followed by the year of the Cindy.
There were 5 Cathy’s is some of my classes at school. One teacher insisted on renaming 4 of the Cathy’s. I stood firm and held on to Cathy. I was born under the sign of Leo. Need I say more? The others became Catherine, Kathleen, Kath and Cat. But that was his problem, not ours.
I can tell if you are going to spell my name with a C or K by how you pronounce Cathy. Don’t ask me how. I don’t know what I hear. In the book ‘The Outliers’ by Malcolm Gladwell, he says that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert at something. I am an expert at this, and yes, I get a lot of practice.
I like my name. My birth certificate says Catherine and I like that too.
It’s good to be a Cathy.
